Width: 12.6 inches
Height: 11.4 inches
Inspired by the ancient Japanese proverb “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” was popularized in the 17th century as a pictorial Shinto maxim, carved in the famous Tōshō-gū Shinto shrine in Nikkō, Japan. In this sculpture form Three Wise Monkeys applied to minimalist human faces in order to make statue modernist. One-of-a-kind mask statue has a black base, color splashes all around and top with matte varnish.
Three Wise Monkeys illustrated the idea of protecting one’s self from unsavory or challenging behavior, thought, or language. The saying embraces a Buddhist tenet of not dwelling on evil thoughts, though in Western cultures, the adage is colored with the idea of pretending to be ignorant or choosing to look the other way, and it implies some question of character.
Put it on a pedestal, on a piece of furniture; in the living room, the study, the bedroom, or the media room; let it stand in the entryway or on the reception desk. This statue renders instant dynamism and interest to any setting and immediately brings textural variety to your home or office décor.
